The Trailer for Nia DaCosta's 'Candyman' 🐝

Candyman returns June 12, 2020.

The trailer features music by Destiny's Child and mixes it with Philip Glass' score for the original film. The trailer also features an appearance by Vanessa Williams, who played Anne-Marie in the original film.

The original Candyman was based on a short story by Clive Barker and was made into a film by filmmaker Bernard Rose. The original cast included Tony Todd, Virginia Madsen and Kasi Lemmons.

Candyman is an exploration of the genesis, dissemination, and interpretation of myth, as it circulates across differing boundaries of class, race, and gender in Chicago. A cult horror film, the film is unusual in that it links a supernatural tale to the horrors of a racist past and the poverty and urban segregation of many African Americans today. - Apocalyptic Dread, Kirsten Moana Thompson

Nia DaCosta's Candyman takes place in the now gentrified neighborhood where Chicago's Cabrini-Green housing project once stood. Written by DaCosta, Jordan Peele and Win Rosenfeld, Candyman stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen, Teyonah Parris, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett and Colman Domingo.
