Production on The Price is Right was halted after Drew Carey's ex-girlfriend was killed by an ex-boyfriend Saturday night. Carey and Dr. Amie Harwick were engaged in 2018. Carey was said to be overwhelmed with grief and there will be no filming for the week.
Dr. Amie Harwick, a well-known Hollywood family and marriage/sex therapist, was killed Saturday at her home in the Hollywood Hills.
After receiving a radio call about a woman screaming early Saturday morning, officers found Harwick's roommate in the street after they jumped over a wall to escape when Harwick's ex-boyfriend forced his way into their apartment. Officers found Harwick gravely injured on the ground beneath a third-story balcony, police said. She suffered significant injuries consistent with a fall and was unresponsive, she later died from her injuries.
The LAPD said Harwick and Gareth Pursehouse dated and recently had broken up, with Harwick eventually filing a restraining order against him after expressing a fear of him. The court order had since expired, and the two had seen each other in the past few weeks. He was arrested for her murder Saturday afternoon.
Drew Carey paid tribute to Amie this afternoon with a statement and tweet:
“Amie and I had a love that people are lucky to have once in a lifetime. She was a positive force in the world, a tireless and unapologetic champion for women, and passionate about her work as a therapist. I am overcome with grief. I would like to thank you in advance for giving myself and everyone who loved Amie privacy while we try to work through this tragic situation.”
I hope you’re lucky enough to have someone in your life that loves as much as she did. pic.twitter.com/xMkQIwR6d6— 🅳🆁🅴🆆 🅲🅰🆁🅴🆈 (@DrewFromTV) February 17, 2020
