ONTD Original: Monthly Movie Challenge – February

Another 10-task challenge. You obviously don’t need to do all 10 tasks, choose as many as you want, but I figured it gives you some variety and allows you to pick and choose movies that fit your taste but also maybe lead you to watch something you wouldn’t normally seek out. For each task, you can pick whatever movie fits within the guidelines, I've added links to help you out. I tried to add tasks that would allow you to get movies on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and/or Hulu – but there’s also Kanopy and Hoopla (both of which you can get free access through your library or university). Have a different movie for each task – that is, don’t have the same movie for task 2 and task 6.

It’s the end of awards season, so the tasks will have to do with awards.

Tasks:
1. The Irishman, nominated 10 times at this month’s Academy Awards, is also the 10th time Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro have worked together. Watch any movie from a well-known collaborating duo (Director + Actor or Actress).
2. Fox Searchlight (RIP) has the most Best Picture Oscar nominations and wins this decade (13 nominations, 3 wins), watch any Fox Searchlight movie.
3. Watch any short (live action, animated, or documentary) nominated at this year’s Academy Awards.
4. Watch any movie that was nominated for a Razzie (any year, any category).
5. This year BAFTA introduced a Casting Directors category (the nominees are a mess), pick any movie that was cast by the nominated person (doesn’t have to be their nominated film, literally just any movie they did the casting for).
6. If Greta Gerwig or Krysty Wilson-Cairns do not win Best Adapted/Original Screenplay, the 2010’s will be the first decade since the 60s to not have a woman win a screenplay Oscar. Watch any movie written by a woman.
7. Did you know women direct movies? Award voters apparently don't. Watch any movie directed by a woman.
8. Watch any movie that won Best Film at any award show that isn't the Oscars or BAFTA’s.
9. Everyone and their mother has appeared in an episode of Law and Order. Watch any movie from an Oscar nominated actor/actress that made an appearance on the show (why’d they ignore Isabelle Huppert!?!)
10. Greta Gerwig is the 25th person, and 1st woman, to have nominations for Best Director (2017), Best Original Screenplay (2017), and Best Adapted Screenplay (2019). Watch any movie from 1 of those 25 people. I actually made a list; it took a ridiculous amount of time to go through all the years. The options are: Greta Gerwig, Billy Wilder, John Huston, Joel Coen, Ethan Coen, Stanley Kubrick, Richard Brooks, Joseph Mankiewicz, Francis Ford Coppola, Oliver Stone, Federico Fellini, Ingmar Bergman, Mike Leigh, Warren Beatty, Robert Benton, George Clooney, Peter Jackson, James L. Brooks, David O. Russell, Spike Lee, Paul Thomas Anderson, Alfonso Cuarón, Adam McKay (eww), George Miller, and Richard Linklater.

ONTD, what do you plan on watching this month? What did you watch during the month of January?
