- Ahead of the release of " Bad Boys 3", Martin Lawrence gave an interview with"GQ" magazine where he made comments on the 1997 lawsuit that was filed against him by Tisha Campbell,alleging harassment.
-- When asked about the decision to end the sitcom by "GQ", This is how Martin Lawrence responded. Lawrence" Well,how can I say this? It just was time to end. Let's put it this way.It was just,at that time,there was some,um there were some things that were being said that-" The "GQ reporter brings up the lawsuit. Lawrence" Yeah". None of that was true. It was all a lot of bull****."We don't need to talk about something that didn't happen, So I just decided to walk away from the show. People say it was cancelled,but that wasn't the case. I love Tisha. I've seen her then and now,always with nothing but love. I have nothing but love for her,I always have".
- Tisha Campbell was on " The Talk" and said she was "shocked", but said her and Lawrence were in a good place.
- Campbell " I can't go into much detail about the past because there was a confidentiality agreement, so the gag order says no. But ,what I can say is,I was actually kind of shocked". I took a day, and I said ," I'm just gonna hit him up" He called me within a minute. He was like," Don't read into what it is,there's a lot of people that's trying to bring up the past, trying to make it news today. But you know T, we're good. I love you, I love your family. Again , I'm not going to go into details, because I want to protect his privacy and mine. But I will say, by the end of it, it was nothing but laughter and healing. I'm so glad that we're in a good place now".
- Campbell allegedly quit the show after becoming aware of an menacing letter Lawrence allegedly sent to his estranged wife at the time. The producers sued her to return and Campbell counter sued with allegations of repeated and escalating sexual harrassment,sexual battery,verbal abuse and related threats of Lawrence. Campbell returned for the last episode only if Lawrence was not on set.Both sides settled out of court.
