In a twist of Hollywood fate, Oscar Isaac has closed a deal to star and produce 'The Great Machine,' Legendary’s adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan’s Eisner Award-winning comic book title, 'Ex Machina' https://t.co/ZaQ2kgne58— The Hollywood Reporter (@THR) January 17, 2020
Oscar Isaac is set to star in The Great Machine, an adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan's Ex Machina comic. This film is unrelated to Alex Garland's 2014 film Ex Machina, which had Isaac in a leading role. But since the original source material shares a title with the existing film, they've changed the name of the upcoming film.
The story revolves around former superhero Mitchell Hundred who becomes the mayor of New York after 9/11. Anna Waterhouse and Joe Shrapnel, the duo behind Kristen Stewart's Seberg, are writing the script.
Isaac will also star in the upcoming adaptation of Dune, as well as appearing in Three Sisters at the New York Theater Workshop this spring.
