Burger King offends "One Million Moms" by using "the D-word" in Impossible Whopper ad

According to One Million Moms (allegedly), BK's Impossible Whopper is "a burger made from plants instead of beef."

The "highly inappropriate" ad shows a male taste tester "completely shocked that the burger is not beef, so he uses the d-word to describe how he feels about himself for being deceived by the taste of the burger."

That customer didn't have to curse! "The language in the commercial is offensive, and it's sad that this once family restaurant has made yet another deliberate decision to produce a controversial advertisement instead of a wholesome one."

The Southern Poverty Law Center-listed hate group finds the ad irresponsible and tasteless. "It is extremely destructive and damaging to impressionable children viewing the commercial. We all know children repeat what they hear."

+ D---, that’s good!Collapse )

I hadn't heard anything about them in a long time until the commercial with the same-sex couple last month. Unfortunately they got a little attention so I guess they're going to find things to complain about for a little bit till people get bored and move on again.
once Burger King comes out with a new ad that doesn’t include the word, they are going to list this under their successes on their website.

Still don’t understand why media even give them attention or why some companies even listen to them.
Literally had to click through to the story to find out what the D word is.
I was sure it was the word "divorce" and was trying to figure out what it would be doing in a Burger King commercial.
If they're upset about this, they should have seen BK's 2004 Subservient Chicken site. The guy in the suit would hump a floor or couch, mime jacking off and pulled his pants down low enough to almost moon us.
I'm so sick of these women. I'm so sick of how much society is regressing. It's 2020 and you still have these ultra white christian types pearl clutching over swear words. i'm both surprised and not.

I got a book at the library sack sale, and someone crossed out all the swearwords. shit like these two things makes me want to swear all the more. just knowing i could irritate the fuck outta someone for writing fuck online. is just *chef's kiss*
Right? I love swearing, and if it can bother someone this much, it only increases my power lol
We were neighbors with a religious family growing up and the son told me “gosh darn it” was offensive because god might mishear it as “god damn it”
they should learn to enunciate better tbh. but lmaooo I'm dead, the idea of some omnipotent god mishearing your curse words
I guess I'll have to replace "gosh darn it" with FUCK FUCK FUCKITY FUCK.
Yup, I knew a girl who wouldn't say "oh my gosh" because it's too close to god, she said "oh my word!" and it made her sound like one of those church ladies in her 80s lmao

It literally took me a HOT MINUTE to figure out what the hell they were talking about. That group is such a damn joke

Damn? Really? Where was the hullabaloo when Kick Ass came out?
Lmao. Wtf. OMM got no Damn chill lmao.
That burger king tweet about prince harry is a good one. That's probably where he'd be working if he wasn't born to the royal family.
I imagine the overlap in the Venn diagram of OMM members who get angry about the word damn but who are totally chill with the n-word is probably pretty big

or the whole damn circle lbr
it is still absolutely wild to me, 30 years after first learning the fact, that 'damn' is considered a curse word in the US
But then I live in a country where, as the saying goes, you call your mates c**t and you call some c**t 'mate'
On the subject of the c bomb (i got yelled at the last time I used it here), twitter have now started dinging people for using it in tweets full stop, even if it's not directed or about anyone. Scotland and Australia were quite upset about this when it started.
This makes me want one and ive been avoiding it like a plague

Ive had impossible meat and its scarily accurate. This is great for the future of veganism ofc but, for me, i am scared ill be given real beef and not even know it.
ugh and you know asshole omnivores (the 'for every animal you don't eat i'm gonna eat three' types) would think that would be a hilarious joke.

I'm thankful I live in a very vegan friendly city
in the u.k. there’s been numerous times recently where we’ve been given meat instead of the veggie option, it’s happened a few times at kfc and even my friend made the news when a pub gave her real mince 🤢
