So i have decided to make a post comparing Brad's last 5 films and the gross for each one in order to see if he still has that movie star pull that he had in the past and this is what i've found.
* The Last Film he's released it's Ad Astra. The WW gross stands at $124,266,235 to an $80,000,000 production budget.
Worldwide Box Office it's 1.6 times it's production budget. This was a flop!
Funny how no one talked about the underperformance, must be a male white actor...
* Once Upon a Time was also released last year, said movie had him sharing the screen with Leonarde Dicaprio (who is still a bankable movie star) and BAFTA's favourite white actress of the moment Margot Robbie. According to The-Numbers the film has grossed so far:
$370,125,440 to a $90,000,000 budget (without adding the millions going on award campaign).
The WorldWide box office it's 4.1 times it's budget. So one could say this one it's a success!
* Allied. Released in 2016.
WW Box Office: $119,266,661
Production Budget: $106,000,000 (yikes)
WWBO is 1.1 times PB. Another flop.
* The Big Short. Released in 2015.
WW BO: $133,162,752
Production Budget: $28,000,000
WWBO is 4.8 times the PB
NOTE: This film also features Christian Bale and Steve Carrell so he is more of a supporting actor and not leading man.
* By The Sea
WW BO: $3,727,746
Production Budget: $20,000,000
WWBO is 0.2 times it's PB
AY AY AY. FLOP.
It seems that when sharing the big screen with other A-List actors he seems to do rather well but when left all by himself the audience just isn't here for him anymore. So i would say he can still work as a supporting actor but not really as a leading man. I do find it interesting how we get no articles when his projects underperform.
