Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper Being Considered for Batman in the Joker Sequel?

Bradley Cooper is allegedly an early contender for Batman in Todd Phillips’ Joker sequel, they had previously worked together on the Hangover movies. The sequel will jump forward several years and will be ignoring the age difference between Joaquin Phoenix and the child Bruce Wayne set up in the first film because who cares about continuity.

Another contender is Ryan Gosling, who currently has no projects lined up, he has been on hiatus for over a year to spend time with his family. Gosling, despite being a hot get for the Marvel and DC universes for several years (he turned down both Suicide Squad Joker and Doctor Strange, and was seen having lunch with Taika Waititi a few months ago), seems to have an open resistance to superhero films so it'll be interesting if he signs up.

The source also broke the news that The CW was forming an Arrow spinoff back in March and a Joker sequel was arriving a month before it was confirmed. But of course, it's all rumors right now.

I want to see Ryan Gosling in more movies, but not like this.
Between the two of them, I'd prefer Gosling but I'd also prefer Gosling to avoid superhero movies in general and just act more. But his kids are little so I understand him not having acting be a big priority right now.
i was just looking up what Ryan has been up to

he hasn't filmed anything since First Man
same! i love his acting tbh he's my fave white guy
ENOUGH!

I feel like DC is really trying hard to get a cast for their superhero universe that will compete with Marvel and they just keep falling short. Idk if it's something like the actors are big names and so people are just kind of "meh" about seeing them or what. I feel like most of the Marvel leads weren't hugely popular before the movies whereas with DC many of them are big names.
Joaquin is someone Marvel chased after hard for years and DC landed him instead, but honestly I think the appeal for him (and maybe other stars who have not been swayed by Marvel) was that he was only supposed to do one and that it was ~artsy~, but with Marvel you have to sign on for like five movies minimum and they don't make r-rated films
who would joaquin have played in the mcu, do you know?

Thanks for the info I didn't know any of that! I love the Marvel universe but I can't exactly blame him for not wanting to sign on for that many projects lumped together. That's a lot.

I think he did make the right choice for Joker.
DC should probably bring their films into the same timeline first if they are looking to compete with Marvel. There's...

- The Joker franchise: early 80s & will have a new Batman
- Suicide Squad franchise: present day that had Ben Affleck Batman, different Joker. Sequel will have? (Birds of Prey/HQ in this same story-verse)
- The Batman stand alone (possible franchise?) - 90s noir Batman completely separate from The Joker, SS, BoP, etc.

And then you've got the Wonder Woman franchise that featured Affleck Batman and is in the same relative story-verse as SS though it feels disrespectful to lump WW with the horrendous first SS film.

And that's just within the past 2-3 years.

First of all, this story is total rumor, based on the fact that The Joker made so much money. It was always supposed to be a one-off, not some kind of franchise.

There is no grand plan at DC to get their superhero universe together to compete. Even if this second Joker movie ever gets made, it won't be part of DC's new Batman relaunch.

The only plan they have is to restart Batman and then spin off the characters/villains into their own franchises, the way they did with Harley Quinn. Catwoman would get her own movie, the Riddler, etc.
