Rudy Boesch, the oldest survivor contestant of all time, has passed away at age 91 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Rudy was a Survivor legend, lasting until the final episode of the original season in summer 2000, placing third. He quickly became a fan favorite, partially due to his cantankerous yet loveable personality, and his unlikely friendship with winner Richard Hatch. His popularity led to a repeat appearance on Survivor: All Stars in 2004 (where voted out on the second episode).
It was rumoured that he passed away over the summer, which was cleared up by Hatch.
Now, Richard has tweeted this, confirming the reports:
Source 1 Source 2Ours was an interesting bond, Dear Rudy! You and I helped open minds and undermine predjudces. While your time here has passed, you will remain loved and iconic, dear friend!
