People find this new version of the “Alphabet Song” “disgusting.” https://t.co/cy3QjHZy21— HuffPost (@HuffPost) October 28, 2019
In 2012, Dream English — an English-teaching website that aims to “make educational music” — debuted a new version of the classic children’s tune. This twist slows down and clarifies the letters “LMNOP” that most sing as “elemenopee.” It also changes the original song’s melody once those letters are sung.
When it was posted on Twitter and became viral by Friday, most people despised it, with people citing the lack of rhythm and flow.
The creator of Dream English, musician, songwriter and teacher Matt R., said on his YouTube channel that he teaches “young learners of English as a foreign language, and have found this way [is] the most effective for teaching the letters.”
