I feel like Netflix used to produce only good shows and movies when they first started making original content but lately big yikes

Btw is Marianne good

They used to go for quality but several years ago they made a big noticeable change to where they were all about quantity

They just throw everything against the wall and get lucky that a few things stick

They have. Clearly they need to watch Electric Boogaloo the documentary about Cannon films.

They just want the library at this point, the hell with if it’s any good, cause everyone has gotten on the streaming train and licensing has gone up

I’m halfway through it right now and I feel like the plot is holding the movie back? Like they get lost in the grass due to unseen forces - cue screaming in a cornfield for 120 min.

It's okay. I enjoyed it but there were some parts that were weak and straight up too much. If you enjoy Stephen King's perchance of fun but ultimately weird for its own sake content, you might like it

Toy Story 4
Booksmart
The Farewell

but I didn't even love The Farewell as much as I expected.

I only started Red Sea for Chris but I couldn't finish it. I don't even feel like I need to thanks to gifs.

Tall Girl was cute, I guess. But I found it hard to believe she was considered a loser? I mean, yea she's tall but she's also very pretty. Idk, maybe my average height ass don't understand lol.

6’2 for a girl is really polarizing in school unfortunately, there was a girl that tall in my middle school and everyone’s first words to her were always about her height

We had a guy who had the opposite problem in high school, he was probably like 4’11 and everyone would constantly just be like “you’re really fucking short”

Kids suck lol

Oh no! I guess I never witnessed it. There were a few tall girls in my school who rocked with the cool crowd or the athletes but maybe it wasn't 6'2 levels. Lol I forgot that's how tall the character was. Ooops.

That's the million dollar question. Most Netflix Originals are Syfy level bad, except it spans all genres and unlike Syfy they're actually trying for the most part.

Netflix now kinda reminds me of the big studios during the late 50s/60s - they were running out of money so they were letting every young kid with a camera shoot something under them. But that's kinda the opposite of Netflix now - they have the money to produce great content but they just keep throwing things against the wall and wanna grab the most recognizable face and throw them in a disjointed or clichéd mess, getting winners every once in a while. So idkkkk

I saw Downton Abbey.

TBH it wasn't that bad but I was never a fan of the show and watching it was an intensely mediocre experience. One thing I thought was really strange was this whole "stand by your abusive man" undercurrent which showed up in 2 subplots. WTF.

lol if you weren't a fan of the show why did you see it? It's literally just 2 hours of fanservice.

And I get that the Princess Mary subplot was maybe abusive but what was the second one?

My mom wanted to see it!

The princess Mary plotline and the one between the servant who didn't care for the royal family and who was engaged. [Spoiler (click to open)]
Her fiancé smashing the furnace because she was nice to the plumber wasn't a sign of passion or whatever that's like a classic warning that a man is going to become abusive. I was so grossed out when she found out and gave that little speech about how she's ready to marry him now. So much media written by men and aimed at women is like this where they portray violence as "romantic".

Netflix has made throw a bunch of money at celebrities to generate content, let them do whatever the fuck and stream it a thriving genre. Wine Country being a prime example of that where if there was someone else to oversee things and keep shit on track it could have been fine but instead it feels like a bunch of recognizable people doing a bunch of disjointed shit and calling it a movie.

It's been so long, I forgot that button even existed.

I have difficulty digging around for something to watch that isn't produced by Netflix.

Most of the time now I use Netflix for background noise when falling asleep. The soothing voice of David Attenborough narrating a BBC nature documentary really helps me to catch some ZZzzzs.

Red Sea Diving Resort was just more thoroughly mediocre than outright BAD. Polar and The Silence were just offensively fucking terrible tho.

The worst thing I've seen on Netflix all year was Another Life. Holy fucking shit what a terrible series. Literally everything was bad. There was not one positive quality about the series other than the fact that it eventually ended. It is the worst thing I have ever seen on Netflix and I voluntarily watched all of Hemlock Grove so I'm not new to the dregs.
