-Jessye Norman,multi Grammy award winning soprano and philanthropist, died Monday. She was 74.
- Norman grew up in Georgia to a musical family and discovered Opera from the radio. She made her MET debut in 1983 as Cassandre in Berlioz's " Les Troyens". She would preform over 80 times on the storied stage.
-Norman received her bachelor's of music from Howard University and received the National Medal of Art in 2009.
- Norman died from septic shock and organ failure, Complications caused by a spinal injury sustained in 2015.
