In 17 years on television, ABC's "The Bachelor" has never had a non-white lead. Ever.
The premise of the show is for a man and woman to fall in love and get engaged within six-ish weeks. All the lead men have been white. Only one Bachelorette has been non-white-- Rachel, who was black.
Mike, a breakout star and fan favorite of last season, reacted to the announcement of Peter, whose mother is Cuban, as Bachelor:
"He's white, right?"
Who were you rooting for as Bachelor?
