'Portrait of a Lady on Fire' - New Trailer + Photos & Interviews from TIFF

Neon released a new trailer for Portrait of a Lady on Fire, which is directed by Céline Sciamma and stars Adèle Haenel and Noémie Merlant.

Plot summary: France, 1760. Marianne is commissioned to paint the wedding portrait of Héloïse, a young woman who has just left the convent. Because she is a reluctant bride-to-be, Marianne arrives under the guise of companionship, observing Héloïse by day and secretly painting her by firelight at night. As the two women orbit one another, intimacy and attraction grow as they share Héloïse’s first moments of freedom. Héloïse's portrait soon becomes a collaborative act of and testament to their love.

OP's Review: This was my favorite film that I saw at TIFF. The camera absolutely loves the leads, who are both excellent, and the cinematography is beautiful, featuring the stunning coastal backdrop in many scenes. If there were a reverse Bechdel test, it would fail miserably - there are like five lines from male characters total, if that. I think that the leads could have more chemistry, but that's probably just me nitpicking. Would highly recommend!
