Anika Noni Rose on the 10th anniversary of "The Princess and the Frog" and Princess Tiana's legacy https://t.co/6GnUKAsHun— Variety (@Variety) September 6, 2019
ICYMI: 10 years ago, Disney finally made a movie about a black princess in "The Princess and The Frog", where she was a frog for most of the movie. We have not gotten another one since. Star Anika Noni Rose talks about it.
There was an anniversary screening at the Goldwyn in Beverly Hills, with a panel discussion hosted by Quvenzhane Wallis ("Beasts of the Southern Wild").
- Anika sees children of all ethnicities wearing Tiana merchandise. "When they see her and she doesn’t look like them, it’s still them because they are babies and they recognize her spirit and her heart and her gumption and I think that is a great thing".
- Is excited for Halle Bailey as live action Ariel.
- Jenifer Lewis (Mama Odie) wants to see more traditional black folklore tales brought to the big screen.
If you want some more PATF actor goodness, Keith David (Dr Facilier) did an interview with online personality Double Toasted last week.
