Maybe folks should boycott his show.— Rashida Tlaib (@RashidaTlaib) August 17, 2019
I am tired of folks discrediting a form of speech that is centered on equality and freedom. This is exactly how they tried to discredit & stop the boycott to stand up against the apartheid in S. Africa. It didn't work then and it won't now. https://t.co/Oa49ZVfrVN
Rashida Tlaib responded on twitter to Bill Maher, who identifies as half-Jewish after his mother, after he said on his show that the BDS movement was "a bullshit purity test by people who want to appear woke but actually slept through history class." This was in the wake of Netanyahu barring her and Ilhan Omar from visiting Israel after Trump tweeted that they shouldn't be allowed in (Israel later granted Tlaib's request to visit her grandmother, though she refused under the conditions).
Neither Tlaib nor Omar have have responded to the recent news of the Palestinian Authority banning LGBT activities (update: Ilhan responded, saying "we should condemn any effort to infringe upon [LGBTQ rights] But we should also condemn any effort to equate this with the occupation or use this as a distraction"), though they did share a cartoon from the second place winner of Iran's International Holocaust Cartoon Contest.
