Daymond John, Alex Rodriguez, and Kevin O’Leary enjoy dinner together.
In a recent segment with CNBC’s Make It, Shark Tank’s Kevin O’ Leary (also known as Mr. Wonderful for some self-proclaimed reason) admitted that despite his well-known savvy business investments, spends around $1,000 on food every single day. O’Leary adds that he’s aware that he sets a “bad example” when it comes to a food budget and dining out.
“I’m on the road all week, five days a week. I’m spending about $1,000 a day on food," says O’Leary. “For example, today’s breakfast cost me about $200,” he says. “It was a very important meeting with somebody I have to do business with.”
The Canadian investor is also adamant about picking up the check because he doesn’t “want to owe anybody anything.”
O’Leary however is not advocating that anyone spend a lot when eating out. Because we care so much what a rich white businessman thinks, he says, “Look at your paycheck and do not spend more than 20% of your after-tax paycheck on dining out.”
He also suggests people keep their dining and bar expenses at 10% of their biweekly paycheck and that they try to eat at home four days a week.
