- Executive producers including Dan Fogelman were told by 20th TV execs to begin assembling cast- including stars Kylie Bunbury and Mark-Paul Gosselaar- and a writer's room for a season two of the sports drama series in late April. This was after Disney's Fox acquisition and after Fogelman renewed his overall deal with 20th TV.
- 20th TV dangled the revival- a passion project of Fogelman- in order to get Fogelman to resign, then told him the revival was a no-go a week later, as the Pitch team began to plot out the second season. Sources stress no deals were made and no contracts were signed.
- While sources say that all involved remain hopeful that there will be some sort of proper closure for the show, reps for 20th TV declined comment.
