Sky Ferreira concluded her 'chaotic' Pitchfork Fest set by debuting a new song

Sky Ferreira performed at opening day of the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago, IL this weekend, but what should have been a triumphant return to the stage for the 27 year old was "marred by technical difficulties and an abrupt ending."

• After seemingly appearing onstage early to complete a soundcheck, Ferreira and her band disappeared until about 20 minutes after her scheduled start time. From there, microphone and monitor issues abounded. "Either [the audience] couldn't hear her, or she couldn't hear herself, or both."

• Despite the aforementioned issues, Ferreira's talent shone through as she performed songs from her instant-classic debut Night Time, My Time, her rendition of 'Til Tuesday's "Voices Carry," and a new song entitled "Descending."

Described as a "winsome new wave jam," it took several false starts before Ferreira and co. could perform "Descending," which she claimed would be out "very soon." This proved to be the finale of her set: immediately after, "her mic cut out—on purpose this time—and Earl Sweatshirt's set began across the field. [...] Ferreira just stood there stunned... after an hour of chaos."

• Never one to be silenced, Ferreira took to Twitter following the festival to address her audience and defend both herself and her band.
