Riza Aziz, producer of “The Wolf of Wall Street,” was arrested Thursday in Malaysia in connection with the looting of a massive investment fund set up by his step father and former Prime Minister of Malaysia.
He was a co-founder of Red Granite Pictures, which produced the Martin Scorsese-directed “Wolf” in 2013. It also co-produced “Dumb and Dumberer To” and “Daddy’s Home.”
Razak and his wife, have both been charged by authorities in Malaysian in connection with the 1MDB scandal that brought down his government last year.
Razak is charged with abuse of power, breach of trust and money laundering. His wife, whose shopping habits were legendary, has been charged with money laundering and tax evasion. Both deny the charges.
