Queen Elizabeth sees a self-checkout area for the first time

While touring a replica of the original Sainsbury’s to mark the store's 150th anniversary, Queen Elizabeth was shown a self-service checkout area for the first time. After being shown how it worked she asked, “And you can’t trick it? You can’t cheat then?” Manager Damien Corcoran replied that it was possible people could cheat it, everything was weighted which made it more difficult to do steal. Corcoran added that the tills were helpful to people in a hurry to which the Queen replied, “I’m sure they do — everybody wants to hurry.”

She was also shown Bloater Paste, a herring pate from the 1950s. The Queen said it "sounded disgusting". (OP note: ikr?)

Have you ever stolen anything going through self-checkout? Does technology confuse you?
