'Game of Thrones' Writer Bryan Cogman Joining the 'LotR' series at Amazon

  • Bryan Cogman, a writer and co-executive producer on Game of Thrones, has joined Amazon's Lord of the Rings series as a consultant.

  • He started on Game of Thrones as an assistant to David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, and was known for his encyclopedic knowledge of Westeros. The last episode he wrote was Season 8's second episode "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms".

  • He was one of the writers chosen to pitch a Game of Thrones spinoff series, but his is not moving forward.

  • Little is known about the Lord of the Rings project, which is being written by JD Payne and Patrick McKay.
