Theater Roundup: Olivier Awards, Shakespeare in the Park, Show Closings

The Olivier Awards, Britain's theater awards, were held on Sunday in London. Hit musical Come From Away and play The Inheritance both won big, and the gender-swapped revival of the musical Company also picked up a few awards. A full list of the winners is under the cut:

Gillian Anderson didn't win for All About Eve, but she did look amazing on the red carpet (despite the lighting conspiring to make literally everyone look like shit).

Tom Hiddleston
Tom Hiddleston, Zawe Ashton, and Charlie Cox all presented at the show, and currently star in Betrayal on the West End.

  • Danielle Brooks (Orange is the New Black) is set to star as Beatrice in The Public Theater's Shakespeare in the Park production of Much Ado About Nothing.

  • Kenny Leon will direct this adaptation, also starring Jamar Brathwaite (Ensemble), Grantham Coleman (Benedick), Chuck Cooper (Leonato), Javen Crosby (Ensemble), Denzel Fields (Ensemble), Jeremie Harris (Claudio), Tayler Harris (Ensemble), Erik LaRay Harvey (Antonio/Verges), Kai Heath (Ensemble), Daniel Croix Henderson (Balthasar), Tyrone Mitchell Henderson (Friar Francis/Sexton), Tiffany Denise Hobbs (Ursula), Lateefah Holder (Dogberry), LaWanda Hopkins (Dancer), Billy Eugene Jones (Don Pedro), Margaret Odette (Hero), Hubert Point-Du Jour (Don John), Jaime Lincoln Smith (Borachio), Jazmine Stewart (Ensemble), Khiry Walker (Conrade/Ensemble), Olivia Washington (Margaret), and Latra A.   • Two Tony-winning musicals ended their Broadway runs this weekend. Kinky Boots, the 2013 Best Musical winner, played its last performance at the Al Hirschfield Theater, while The Band's Visit, 2018's Best Musical winner, wrapped up its run at the Barrymore. Both ended with a box office boost.
