Alejandro González Iñárritu, the Oscar-winning director of Birdman and The Revenant, will be the president of the Cannes Jury this year.
An excerpt of his statement: “Cannes is a festival that has been important to me since the beginning of my career... I am humbled and thrilled to return this year with the immense honor of presiding over the jury.”
His films Amores Perros, Babel and Biutiful all showed at Cannes, receiving positive critical reception and awards.
He is the first Mexican artist to chair the jury panel.
