Michael Jackson Estate Sues HBO for Non-Disparagement Contract Breach

· On Thursday, Michael Jackson's estate filed a lawsuit against HBO, claiming that by airing the documentary Leaving Neverland the channel is violating a non-disparagement agreement which was part of the contract HBO signed ahead of airing Michael's 1992 concert documentary, Michael Jackson in Concert in Bucharest: The Dangerous Tour
· The estate is seeking public arbitration and claims they could be awarded $100mn if the network is found to be in violation of the clause. Estate attorney Howard Weitzman argues that HBO & the film's director Dan Reed ignored evidence that Wade Robson & James Safechuck are lying for financial reasons and that the documentary isn't objective
· HBO once again refused to change their plans, saying they will still air the 4-hour, 2-part documentary on March 3rd & 4th
