- McDormand will star as Fern, a woman in her 60s who was hit hard by the Great Recession, never recovered, and now lives in her van as a modern day nomad
- The book appears to be inspired by Jessica Bruder's non fiction book of the same name
- Zhao said she will once again be using a mix of professional actors and non-actors
- No word on what this means for The Eternals, the Marvel film Zhao was slated to direct
