Catherine Deneuve's castoffs earn over $1 million at auction

  • French icon Catherine Deneuve auctioned off all the Yves Saint Laurent pieces from her personal collection

  • Saint Laurent famously designed the clothes that Deneuve wore in Belle Du Jour and continued dressing her for film and for events until his death in 2008

  • A tux that Saint Laurent designed for her to wear sold for over 20, 000 euros setting a world record for most expensive suit purchased at auction

  • A lot of the pieces also went to museums

  • The auction made just over $1 million U.S.

  • Deneuve hasn't publicly stated when she's selling so maybe she just was cleaning out her closets or needed some ca$h

  • Her non couture pieces are still on sale until January 30
