-For those of you who dont know, the rebooted BTVS comic series came out yesterday, you can read more about it here
-They are looking at this reboot as their own version Marvels Ultimate verse and with a reboot comes some changes, two characters who face the biggest change are Willow Rosenberg and Drusilla.
-Willow who was once a shy, quirky, techno pagan during her high school days is now much more confident in herself and dresses the total opposite of 90s Willow who wouldnt be caught dead in shorts and fishnets. While Dru who was driven mad by Angelus is now a BOSS Vamp who goes by The Mistress.
-The team behind the reboot felt that in today's world that young girls need "strong female characters who are confident, not just shrinking violets." so they wanted to flip Willow and give us a smart, confident girl who speaks her mind. They also attribute to bookish/nerdy girls being able to find a community online where they are able to build confidence. They dont rule out showing Willows insecurities as the series goes on. That's the 2019 we live in.
-When it comes to Dru, they wanted to start her off as strong, arrogant, and brazen. They wanted a female villain to start the series off who like The Master was dominant, controlling, and frightening.
-With Dru's makeover comes a change for Spike as well since it adds a new dynamic to their relationship. Spike will not have a lot of agency and he will be an outsider.
-They dont plan to introduce Angel anytime soon since they want Buffy to stand on her own and have her own story outside of Angel.
