Oscar nominated short film under scrutiny. Mother of murdered toddler wants it removed.

- Detainment is a 30 minute live action short film (not a documentary short) about the real life story of James Bulger who was 2 when he was murdered by two 10 year olds in Liverpool.
- The film uses real transcripts from interrogations of both boys that murdered him.
- The mother of James Bulger, Denise Fergus, is disgusted by it's nomination and says she and her family were never contacted by the writer/director Vincent Lambe about using her sons story. Lambe says he never contacted them because he was worried that he'd be pressured to change the story.
- A petition was created earlier to have it removed from the Oscar shortlist, but it never was and now it's nominated.
