Jack and Diane are an unconventional couple, to be sure. Rescued together by the Carolina Waterfowl Rescue after they were abandoned at a home in North Carolina along with a slew of other animals, the donkey and the emu quickly proved to be inseparable - and that proved to be a problem.
CWR couldn't find anyone who could provide a home for both animals, but they cried and became frantic whenever they were separated. So CWR put out a public appeal that went viral, and a celebrity couple was among the many who responded.
Jack and Diane were moved to the upstate New York farm of One Tree Hill actress Hilarie Burton and her husband, Walking Dead actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan, yesterday. Morgan tweeted that Diane crawled under the partition that separated them in the travel trailer which brought them up from North Carolina, riding the whole way resting between Jack's four legs.
Burton and Morgan already have llamas, alpacas, goats, ducks, chickens, bulls and cows, as well as a few other donkeys. Although they eat chicken eggs and milk the cows, they don't slaughter any of their animals, which are all free to live out their natural lives roaming the pastures of the 100-acre spread.
