A clip from Ariana Grande's interview with Billboard is going viral on social media, with users taking notice of Ariana's "blaccent", specifically in the clip above where she exaggerates her pronunciation of certain words.
Another user posted a comparison between the way Ariana used to talk, compared to the accent she recently has been putting on:

Thoughts, ONTD? Are they reaching again or is this a valid criticism?
Like, she's legit 1/2 Ecuadorian,.. as in her dad is a whole ass Ecuadorian man which means that blood runs through her! He was indeed part of her life growing up,.. did ya'll NOT listen to stripped?,.. "I'm OK?" Like, her dad royally messed her up, hence he was part of her life!
What I don't get is that someone like Mariah NEVER gets questioned when it comes to her urban influence, yet her dad was never even part of her life (as far as I know) and her mom is legit a white opera singer? Yet Mariah is HEAVILY influenced and part of the urban genre and doesn't get questioned about it, but Xtina legit isn't latina to you guys? Her ancestry.com results would shut you all down right quick.
And back to the topic of her dad not being part of her life, hence invalidating her latinaness,.. she even recently posted pix of her and her dad for veterans day,.. like, ya'll don't know her life!
Also, that VMA clip is definitely OTT,.. I truly think she was just HIGH AF tho! (not an excuse,.. just saying)
I can see the point of her not facing the same struggles as a darker latina because she is blonde and blue-eyed but to me that does not negate her heritage.
Plus she was still singing in Spanish back in 2013 when it wasn't trendy like it is now
That tan was still nagl

it doesn't negate the fact she is latina (which isn't a race) but she's obviously not a brown latina which is what she was trying to pass as during her whole ~hood era~.
I was trying to explain why people had an issue with it but I don't know if I explained myself.
Either way like I said I do not know anything about Christina but if she in any way feels connected to her Ecuadorian heritage and wants to celebrate her culture she's in every right because at the end of the day she's still half Ecuadorian so she can and if she wants to identify as a Latina being respectful and not cosplaying as a brown latina she is in her right. Idk if I'm making sense tbh, hopefully you see my point.
Because the same thing can be said about Demi Lovato, that name is very white passing and she is very white when not tanned yet no one denies her heritage.
also, mariah is clearly not white for US standars. xtina is white, even for US standards.

And I can def judge her for her brown face while acknowledging her ethnicity.
