After 20 years, Adriana Lima has hung up her angel wings for the final time. Forever my favorite Victoria’s Secret Angel. pic.twitter.com/9j57abjNjH
After 20 years, Adriana Lima is retiring from VS. She walked her last runway for the show on Wednesday and it was quite emotional for her

I'd be mad if I was retiring and they gave me those ugly shoes though.
jesus.
the OG tbh, her and Alessandra.
No it isn't like being a neuro-surgeon, but it's a tough job that takes a lot of self-motivation, endurance, and mental fortitude. There are a lot of them that do it to put themselves through university as well- a large percentage of them stop or take a break in their early 20s to pursue their education once they've made enough to afford it. You'd be surprised by how many of them are intelligent, educated women.
Not to mention that there IS actual skill involved with the job. Charisma and personality is important. Especially in commercial modeling like this- you need to understand what goes into making a good photo or video just as much as the photographer does. You need to know what works and what doesn't. It takes practice, and it takes experience to do it well- same as any other skilled job. It certainly isn't something anyone with a pretty face can step into and make millions like these women do. They're not the most beautiful women in the world- you could surely find prettier faces even though they are obviously beautiful. Beautiful people are very expendable. They are at the top of their industry because they are talented at their job and have been doing it for years (obviously this excludes nepotism models like Kendall etc) and have learned how to do it extremely well.
The industry is a mess and there is a LOT wrong with it/modeling in general that comes down to issues within society, but the girls are not the problem.
