During a Q&A for Green Book, a movie about classical pianist Don Shirley, who was black, and his white chauffeur touring the American deep south during the Jim Crow era Mortensen dropped the n word. Was at a screening for #GreenBook—the movie is amazing, but at the Q&A after Viggo Mortensen just dropped the N Word and the oxygen immediately left the room. #movies

There's no vid (yet) but apparently after getting a question about race he said "No one really says n****r anymore".
Was there too. He kept going off on tangents that were not clearly thought out. Really a disservice to the film.

i was there too and it was horrifying. it should never be said, but it didn't serve a purpose in his answer so it was incredibly unnecessary and offensive? He was also answering a question about race that wasn't really addressed to him. Idk why the audience didn't react more.

I’m sorry you feel that way. It was somewhat disturbing in the moment. The craziest part is how he was saying (paraphrasing) that “progress is slow, for instance, no one says n——- anymore.” The irony is insane and it came out of nowhere.
