- One of Pearl Jam's best-known songs, "Jeremy," is based on the suicide of Jeremy Wade Delle. He shot himself in front of his high school classmates in 1991.
- His mother Wanda Crane spoke to ABC WFAA about Jeremy, saying how Jeremy's death should not define his life. He was a budding artist who won awards at state fairs before the age of twelve, she shared.
- Former classmate Brittany King, who witnessed Jeremy's death at age sixteen, said: "This was a big wakeup call. Like, you know what? Life is not all hunky-dory all the time. Real things, tragedies happen. It made me grow up pretty quick, literally overnight." She is still upset by Pearl Jam writing the song, claiming the "story isn't accurate."
- Wanda Crane briefly spoke of today's climate of school shootings in the U.S.A: "I think of the sisters. I think of what’ll be said or what opinions will be thought about. It’s the mothers and the sisters that I want to wrap my arms around and tell them that someday it’ll be better."
