James Franco directing a movie about the origins of ESPN

Because we can't have enough news about assholes, James Franco's been tapped to direct an adaptation of the 2011 story 'Those Guys Have All the Fun: Inside the World of ESPN', which is about the origin of the U.S.'s biggest sports network. Here's a summary:

The project is based on a 2011 book James Andrew Miller and Tom Shales that offered an exhaustive chronicle of the birth of the now ubiquitous sports network, told through some 500 interviews with current and former staffers.

Franco isn't expected to be in the movie, just direct it. His last directorial work was last year's 'The Disaster Artist', for which he was not nominated because of his allegations of being a gross ass pervy pedo.

ALSO, because y'all haven't had enough of 40 year old James Franco, he was spotted for the first time in ages with his new (25 year old) girlfriend at the opening of Broadway's 'Straight White Men' (which got rave reviews) yesterday.
