Where Are All the Dark-Skinned Female Artists in Black Cinema?

--Sorry to Bother You is yet another film where the artistic, quirky artist is a lighter skinned black woman.

--The image of the free-spirited black woman is usually always lighter skinned with curly hair or long flowing braids. In comparison, dark-skinned women are often hypersexualized or voiceless.

--Pointing out colorism isn't saying that these women aren't black, it is pointing out that the colorist ideal has been absorbed self-consciously.

[I wrote this. I would say be kind, but this is ONTD <3. I changed the source to the Twitter so I think it should work mods?]
