Former NHL goaltender Ray Emery dies in probable drowning accident

According to his friends, he went swimming off a boat and did not resurface. They called authorities at 6am. He was 35.

Between 2005 and 2016 he played for several NHL teams, including the Ottawa Senators, Philadelphia Flyers, and the 2013 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks.

Emery was a polarizing figure - he was known for his quick-temper, and will likely be most remembered for his propensity for goalie fights. He was arrested in 2017 for allegedly assaulting his former fiancée, Canadian singer Keshia Chante.
