The Breakfast Club host and MTV2 star has been accused of raping a 15 year old girl back in 2001. A Care2 petition was launched on Wednesday in support of the Jessica Reid, who states that in 2001, she was sexually assaulted by Charlamagne Tha God (real name Lenard Larry McKelvey.
Jessica and her mother gave an interview to the The Blast, detailing her story and stating that she is seeking legal representation to file criminal charges against McKelvey. The crime took place in South Carolina and there is no statue of limitations on criminal prosecution.
Her story :
According to a 2001 police report from the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office: 15 year old Reid and a friend stated that they were picked up and taken to a Naval housing facility where they were given a drink. The drink tasted like soda but Reid's friend states that she passed out and woke up to a man kissing her. She pushed the man away and went to find her friend. She found Reid, naked and crying, stating that she had been raped. The girls went to a local hospital, where staff corroborated that a sexual assault had occurred and took a statement implicating McKelvey as the assailant.
Charlamagne wasn't tried for rape but he pled guilty to a delinquency of a minor charge and was sentenced to three years of probation.
Charlamagne has talked about the case and in an 2013 interview with DJ Akademiks, he states that he was at the party but left early. He proclaims his innocence and claims that the police were trying to pin it on him. (Sure Jan)
