Dolce & Gabanna’s Stefano Gabbana called Selena Gomez “so ugly” and fans quickly came to her defense. https://t.co/7KTZ9SRs1P— Us Weekly (@usweekly) June 13, 2018
Stefano Gabbana, 55, responded to a collage of Gomez, 25, posted by Instagram account @TheCatWalkItalia, saying “É proprio brutta!!!” which translates to “She’s so ugly!!!”
Gomez has not responded, but Tommy Dorfman (an actor on 13 Reasons Why, for which Gomez is a producer) said, “@stefanogabbana you’re tired and over. your homophobic, misogynistic, body-shaming existence will not thrive in 2018. it is no longer tolerable or chic. please take many seats.”
Gabbana is no stranger to controversial statements. The designer and his business partner Domenico Dolce, both of whom are openly gay, previously said: “We oppose gay adoptions" and "You are born to a mother and a father - or at least that's how it should be. I call children of chemistry, synthetic children. Rented wombs, semen chosen from a catalog. The only family is the traditional one." (thanks nutella_forever for the correct quote; more context in the comment).
