Spike Lee's film BlacKkKlansman premiered at CinemaCon last week. It follows the true story of Ron Stallworth (John David Washington), the first black police officer in Colorado Springs, CO, who infiltrated the KKK so successfully that he ended up leading its local chapter.
The film also features Adam Driver as Flip Zimmerman—a fellow police officer who poses as Stallworth when he needs to meet KKK members face-to-face—and Topher Grace as then-Grand Wizard David Duke.
In the first still from the film, Zimmerman is shown examining Stallworth's KKK membership card.
In the interview at the source, Washington talks about meeting Stallworth, the contemporary relevance of the film, the importance of telling stories about the black experience, Grace's turn as David Duke, and Driver's ability to keep Star Wars secrets.
