it's the cycle of abuse. abusers are attracted to people who already have trauma from past abuse. they're already conditioned and molded. victims are attracted to abusers because it's familiar and how they have experienced 'love' so far.

if this story is true, I just find it really sad. she probably needs some intense therapy to work through this issues, I wouldn't be surprised to learn it goes far deeper than just the last few years.
