According to Italian court documents, Marco Brancaccia - the Italian journalist with whom Colin Firth's wife, Livia Giuggioli, has admitted to having a 2015 affair - emailed nude photos of Giuggioli to her husband after she tried to end their relationship. It is also alleged that Brancaccia sent Giuggioli a message reading "If you end our relationship, I will ruin your life."
Firth and Giuggioli released a statement on Friday saying that they were separated in 2015 when Giuggioli had a "brief" relationship with Brancaccia, but they have since reconciled. Some publications have pointed out that Firth and Giuggioli were photographed together at various events in 2015, including holding hands and kissing on the Cannes red carpet in May of that year.
Brancaccia says that Firth and Giuggioli were still together during his 11-month affair with Giuggioli (which he says started in the summer of 2015 and continued until the summer of 2016) but that she told him she planned to leave her husband for him. “I wrote an email to Colin about my relationship with Livia, which I now regret sending", he says, claiming that Giuggioli only filed stalking charges against him to keep him from going public with their affair.
