Our latest anonymous Oscar voter on their choices and why Best Cinematographer is a no-brainer this year: "No question about that one, Roger Deakins." https://t.co/ekHLXJgHcn pic.twitter.com/FvoTZ9UswS— IndieWire (@IndieWire) February 21, 2018
So this one's from the 'executive branch' which means they're probably a film producer. Most of their choices are pretty spot-on (except best actor, boo hiss):
-- Best Picture: another one who hates the preferential ballot, but will be giving their top votes to Get Out and Lady Bird (still haven't chosen in which order), both of which this exec loved to death. Although they also wondered why Wonder Woman or Last Jedi didn't get BP nods so... yeah.
-- Best Director: is being indecisive as hell right now, but since Get Out and Lady Bird were their faves, they'll be going either with Peele or Gerwig.
-- Best Actor: says Chalamet is extraordinary in every movie he's been in this season, but thinks Gary Oldman should get it because 'he’s earned it'. Calls it amazing or whatever, says Oldman did Churchill differently, like some weird mixture of Sid Vicious and him? Pfft whatever.
-- Best Actress: Says Meryl is always wonderful or whatever, but Sally Hawkins was fucking beyond, so the vote goes there. Loved Margot Robbie, did not like Three Billboards and was not impressed by Frances McDormand.
-- Best Supporting Actor: having made the previous point, apparently dude loved the guys in Three Billboards, if not Frances or the movie itself? Is choosing to vote for Woody Harrelson over Sam Rockwell because of the impact of Woody's character's departure. Interesting random tidbit added: they thought Michael Stuhlbarg in CMBYN was fucking awful, playing a 'stagey contrived character' with an Oscar bait speech (though he liked the movie).
-- Best Supporting Actress: going for Laurie Metcalf because they have eyes and can see that her character in Lady Bird had infinite more depth than Allison Janney.
Other categories mentioned too, like the cinematography in the tweet above, and that they'll be voting for the 'Marshall' song for best original song.
