Jesy Nelson, who is white, was accused of cultural appropriation and some are saying she shouldn't wear the hairstyle to the BRIT awards tonight. But the post has also received over 191,000 likes and many positive comments. She had previously provoked similar controversy when she wore dreads for some of Little Mix's 'Salute' tour, which was tribal themed. Fans and some others in the UK entertainment industry have supported her.
Well, if white girls like the Little Mix singer aren’t allowed to wear dreadlocks because it’s “cultural appropriation”, what does that say about Beyoncé and *this* hairstyle? #confused https://t.co/CthomAQnkH pic.twitter.com/v20ulpjvUR— Julia Hartley-Brewer (@JuliaHB1) February 20, 2018
To anyone that is offended by a white girl having dreadlocks, YOU are the racist. YOU are the one that sees skin colour. YOU are the problem.— Gareth Icke (@garethicke) February 20, 2018
