I am pleased to reveal I have written a children's book! It's called "Sulwe"! Sulwe is a dark skinned girl who goes on a starry-eyed adventure, and awakens with a reimagined sense of beauty. - Aimed at readers aged 5-7
- Sulwe means 'star' in Luo (Lupita's native language)
- Sulwe is a 5 y/o girl growing up in Kenya who has the darkest skin in her family, which makes her uncomfortable. She tries to find a way to lighten it and embarks on an adventure in the night sky. She begins to see beauty differently during her adventure and with her mother's help.
- Lupita wrote it for that age group as that is the age when “you learn all the things that you spend the rest of your life trying to unlearn”
