Weekend Box Office: Justice League stumbles as Wonder comes in above expectations

Lol yikes. I'm seeing JL on $5 ticket Tuesday, bc that's all it deserves. I realized my mom will totally want to see Wonder with me when I go home for thanksgiving next week, so I waited on that one. (Moms, y'know.)

I saw Manos: The Hands of Fate for the first time yesterday, which was amazing, esp bc I saw it with a group of The Room-esque fans who cheered and laughed and booed at all this stuff they clearly knew was coming. It was pretty great. Seeing Mudbound in a few hours 💙

i would say that was the only highlight of the film.

also laughed when he wanted to say wave goodbye to the little girl but the only russian thing he knew was dostoyevsky.

I kinda started giggling [Spoiler (click to open)]when Superman started tracking him when he was preparing to attack because I had forgotten that he could move fast too lol

it wasn't funny at all, it was actually terrifying because it makes u realize what superman is actually capable off... best scene in the entire movie imo

his personality is always on like 1,000. it's too much to handle most of the time imo. he's amazing at playing characters but it feels like with flash they have him playing himself which... no.

I totally agree, he was trying WAY too hard and had maybe 1 funny moment in the entire film.

He needed to cool it with the eye-bulging for real.

i wanted to watch mudbound, but apparently netflix only has streaming rights in the us and australia so im fucking pissed because ive been waiting for it for months and now i dont even know if/when it'll be in theaters

Hmm, I'm in Hungary and I can watch Mudbound on Netflix! IT was very hidden though for some obscure reason... not even showing up in the new releases section, had to literally type in the whole title.

Also, I watched THE KILLING OF A SACRED DEER this weekend, and it was right up my alley of violent, weird-ass biblical metaphorical arthouse.
And I think if you're someone who hated mother! (I personally loved it, but…) you might prefer the way SACRED DEER executes a very similar concept.

The Killing of a Sacred Deer was so good! I started out with low expectations because I didn't care for The Lobster, but I ended up loving it!

If you liked the first one then I think you'll definitely enjoy 2049, they did a great job capturing the tone of the original. And it's definitely worth seeing on a big screen while you still can (probably?) it's one of the most visually stunning movies I've ever seen.

It has a Bad Moms vibe to it, if the moms were rich, divorced, and living in LA. They're all disasters, lol. Also, Retta joins the cast in S2 and serves a lot of judgment looks.

Kinda depends on what your tastes are TV wise. I’ve really been enjoying The Exorcist. Finally caught up on Black Sails (rip) and loved it.

I saw 'Murder on the Orient Express.' Terrible front row seats, they made Leslie Odom Jr and Josh Gad's heads look particularly large. I also somehow missed that Depp was in this film (at least not for long...). I haven't seen the 1974 version or read the book, so I had nothing to compare it to. It was 'ok.'

The original was just ok, too. It doesn't really hold up.

IA about the weird gun control commentary although I think they thought they were being more nuanced than they really were. Like I don't think that was their message but it came off as their message, if that makes sense?

I liked everything else about it. I never really felt bad for the white dude and they did say on screen many times that he was a coward. He served a lot of purposes though like he was an example of the shitty treatment of vets, the poisonous nature of right-wing thinking and entitlement, and the difference between his version of 'justice' and Frank's.

Frank was my favourite thing about the show which is good. I liked his relationship with Micro and FUCK ME his scenes with Karen were just incredible.
