Broadway roundup: "Great Comet" closes; "Angels in America" and Sorkin's "Mockingbird" official

- Natasha, Pierre, & the Great Comet of 1812 played its sold-out, final Broadway show.
- Former cast member Josh Groban flew in to be at the last performance

- Comet composer Dave Malloy finally speaks up about the controversy that closed the show
- He shades former Hamilton cast member, Oak Onaodowan, who he says came in unprepared and then blamed the show for his starting date being delayed
- Says Oak was replaced for financial reasons, not racial ones: “We were trying to make enough money to stay open,” Malloy said. “To see that narrative get painted, and then to have other people amplifying that narrative and then other people not speaking against that narrative when they could have and they themselves knew that that was not a correct narrative — that was all a bit heartbreaking.”

- Actual icon Bernadette Peters and Spy Daddy Victor Garber will be joining "Hello, Dolly!" starting January 20
- They will be replacing departing starts Bette Midler and David Hyde Pierce

- The critically acclaimed London production will open at Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre on March 21. Previews begin February 23
- The two parts - Millennium Approaches and Perestroika will play in rep
- The full London company - including Andrew Garfield and Nathan Lane - will reprise their roles, except for Russell Tovey

- The new adaptation is set to open on December 13, 2018 (that's right) on Broadway
- No casting information has been announced

- The Broadway production will open on April 8 at the August Wilson Theatre. Previews begin on March 12
- The premiere will be at D.C.'s National Theatre from October 31 to December 3
