She's leaving it because she thinks it is her duty to save humanity from Ares. Like it's very explicitly said.
Also, she clearly has sexual knowledge and isn't "wowed" or anything by men. The whole boat convo of like "men are unnecessary for pleasure" thing...she didn't seem like a quivering virgin next to the first man she's ever met lol. Hence...coming from an all-female island....I dunno, seemed obvious to me.
Imo I don't think she realized how much she cared for Steve until he sacrificed himself for everyone else. I mean, I think that's what sealed in her opinion of mankind and the good in all of them. I think she fell in love with humanity in this movie, and that is her motivation.
That's...a bit of a stretch.
Now, don't get me wrong, it makes complete sense that Diana would be bisexual, and I'm quite sure that William Marston would have made her bisexual from the get-go if he could have gotten away with that in 1941. And hopefully, this will be something that can be meaningfully incorporated into the character in the not-too-distant future.
But as it stands, the most any writer has ever been allowed to do with this idea is subtext or rather vague hints (Greg Rucka would clearly have liked to do more with this in his recent origin retelling, I expect, but there'd be editorial limitations on what was allowed).
Why is this article acting like the comics didn't just sort-of-but-not-really confirm that she's bi just a few months ago and prior to that was doing coy male gaze bs? Did they even? TBTB said it on Twitter but I don't recall a solid moment in the series so let's start the critique there.
I support WW with a woman and hate most het romances in superhero properties. A whole lot of them are built on nothing or really boil down to 'because we said so/it's expected/it's required for man and woman to be'.
I hate most het romances in general, they exist for no reason but man woman nearby and like WW suddenly they are in love after 2 days together. Foolishness.
She was their baby, they all had a hand in raising her and they all knew her as a child when they were all fully grown. It would have been icky for them to actually go out with her, not to mention she was the Queen's kid, so she read every book she could on the subject. Also she left with Steve to stop Ares not because she had gone weak at the knees for him, she goes weaker at the knees when she see a baby for the first time rather than Steve
And that doesn't mean there wasn't a LGBT relationship. That cry from the other Amazon who rushed to her side when Antiope died (Menalippe I think). That wasn't the cry of a colleague, that was the scream of someone who's heart had just been torn out and was just as real as Diana's rage at the end.

Regarding same sex relationship, I felt the movie did drop a few hints (Diana on the boat, after antipope died an Amazon seemed highly upset). Sure, the movie could have been more explicit about a lot of things, but let's not crucify a movie, which at least took steps in the right direction. There are many other movies more worthy of these kinds of criticism, eg, Baywatch movie
Pretty sure we all loved her from just 2 hrs 20 min.

Gadot’s Instagram post has kind of ruined it for me, too. I’m usually not too bothered by that kind of stuff—actors fuck up like everyone else, and the longer they’re around, the bigger the list--but goddamn Tumblr people rush to justify some terrible shit when they like a movie. It's getting harder to take outrage seriously, even totally legitimate things, when it's so hypocritical all the time.
