Filipinos are defending Alex Tizon story “My Family’s Slave”.

Alex Tizon, author and journalist, passed this last March, his last story and was chosen by The Atlantic as their June cover story.

The woman, Eudocia Tomas Pulido, was given to his mother as a "gift" by her father after he "found" her in a villa during WWII, and was brought to the US when the family came over.

Since the story broke up there has been major backlash, which has also attracted defenders arguing slavery as we know is a "western" concept.
