Screenrant is currently reporting that box office experts are currently projecting that Ghostbusters will have the highest live action comedy opening in over a year. The film is expecting to bring in close to $50 Million in its opening weekend. Even if it only met the lowest / most conservative estimates of $38 Million it would still topple the big opening weekend earner of the year so far (Central Intelligence $35 Million) and the biggest of 2015 (Ted 2, $33.5 Million). While the film is currently predicted to take the #2 spot with The Secret Life of Pets keeping it's claim on #1, this is good news for Sony, as the film is set to perform better than they originally thought. and the franchise and probably upsetting to some thirty year old men who are currently weeping into their overpriced Ecto Cooler.
Interestingly enough the Ghostbusters reboot is also set to make more than the original film did during it's opening weekend which is about $31.5 Million after you adjust for inflation.
